The Kennedys, television's first comprehensive documentary portrait of America's famous political family (bottom), launches the fifth season of public television's prize-winning history series The American Experience. The four-hour program premieres Sunday, September 20 and Monday, September 21, from 8 to 10pm (ET, check local listings) on PBS, with two hours airing each night. The miniseries explores family patriarch Joseph P. Kennedy's ambitions to be the first Catholic president, and, when his plans were dashed, his drive to push his sons, Joe, J. (top left) Robert, Edward, and John (top right) into the country's highest office. A co-production of WGHB/Boston, Thirteen/WNET in New York, and KCET/Los Angeles, The American Experience is made possible by support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and public television stations Aetna Life and Casualty returns for a fifth season as the series' corporate underwriter.
