Description
Sheltered since birth in the dark cellar of his grandparents farmhouse, an astonishing and mysterious young man, known as Powder (Sean Patrick Flanery, center) because of his ghostly complexion, faces intolerance and rejection from a narrow-minded town, but is befriended by compassionate science teacher Donald Ripley (Jeff Goldblum, left), and the understanding Jessie Caldwell (Mary Steenburgen, right), both of whom recognize the young man's extraordinary uniqueness, in Hollywood Pictures fantasy/drama "Powder". An amazing young man with an intellect and abilities beyond ordinary capacities, Powder (Flanery) attracts energy from a classroom science project and is jolted with more than enough electricity to kill him - yet he is physically unimpaired by the experience. In a town quick to reject him because of his strange appearance, Powder finds comfort from Jessie, who sees beneath the boy's skin and understands the depth of his uniqueness. Lance Henriksen also stars. A Hollywood Pictures presentation, in association with Caravan Pictures, "Powder" is written and directed by Victor Salva. The producers are Roger Birnbaum and Daniel Grodnik. The executive producers are Riley Kathryn Ellis and Robert Snukai. Co-producer is Dennis Murphy. Buena Vista Pictures distributes.
