Description
I'm dead tired. My feet hurt. And I'm practically empty-handed. I've been grocery shopping, like a hundred thousand other housewives, for a list of items it's pretty hard to run a smooth household without. I was optimistic. I set out to find meat, soap, washing powder, sugar, toilet tissue, shortening, oleomargarine, and some cleansing tissues. After more than three hours and some six stores, the family market basket contained exactly two cans of potted meat, three bars of toilet soap, some rice, and a pound of sausage.

Photo is dated 1946.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.
