Description
Fredric March plays the title role in "Christopher Columbus," Sydney Box's big Technicolor production for England's Gainsborough Studios, which Universal-International is releasing in the U.S. March considers the role his best since his Oscar-winner in "The Best Years of Our Lives." He was ready to go to Italy to play the discoverer role once before - at the time when Mussolini invaded Ethiopia. Plans for the film were dropped at that time and begun anew after the war in England. Florence Eldridge (Mrs. March) plays Queen Isabella to her husband's Columbus.

Photo is dated 1949.

Photo measures 8.25 x 10.25 inches.
