Delegates en route to closing session of eighth assembly of United Nations, New York . . . Henri Hoppenot, French delegate to the U.N. and Soviet delegate Andrei Vishinsky (right) are shown riding the escalator to the closing session of the eighth general assembly. Madame Pandit of India, assembly president, opened the session with a minute of silent prayer, with the 600 delegates seated in the auditorium fully expecting Vishinsky to take to the rostrum and demand admission of Red China. The Russian, however, remained silent. Madame Pandit then disbanded the session. The 1954 session will begin tomorrow afternoon.
