Description
Election of officers and a tea party commemorating the 189th birthday of Andrew Jackson's birth highlighted the annual meeting Sunday of the Chalmette National Historical Park Association. James J.A. Fortier (left) was elected to the board of directors of the association, while Mrs. Edwin X. de Verges (center) and Mrs. Frank H. Chisolm were re-elected to posts of president and corresponding secretary, respectively. Edward A. Parsons, absent from the meeting, was renamed first vice-president. Samuel Wilson, president of the Louisiana Landmark Society and board member of the association, spoke on plantations that stood on the Chalmette battlefield.
