Description
Escapes injury in assassination attempt - Marrakesh, French Morocco . . . Twenty-six persons were reported wounded today when two bombs were hurled into a mosque in an apparent attempt to assassinate El Glaoui (shown), the Pro-French Berber Pasha of Marrakesh. El Glaoui escaped injury in the attempt which occurred as Moslems were leaving the Kutoubia Mosque. The pro-French Berber chief, whose full name is Jadj Thami el Mezouari el Glaoui, was the leader of the movement last August when Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef, Sultan of Morocco, was deposed and replaced by an uncle, Moulay Mohammed Ben Arafa. El Glaoui has long been an enemy of the Arabx anti-French nationalists whom the deposed sultan supported.
