Councilman Glenn Clasen, left, and J. N. Harsh, right, developer, gleefully toss out the first shovels full of dirt to break ground for the new Village Center to be located in lower Algiers at General Meyer and Huntlee Dr. with them from left are O. A. Reed, district superintendent of Morgan Lindsey Stores; Eads Poitevant, vice president, National Bank of Commerce, and Mark King, vice president, Winn-Dixie Hill Stores. Expected to be finished in October, the building will house, in addition to the above, several other shops and stores. Parking room for 300 cars will be available.
