John Alexander, tenor, sings the role of Cassio in Verdi's "Otello" which the Metropolitan Opera will present as part of its special World's Fair season April 27-May 10, 1964, at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. It was the first all-GI production of grand opera that turned John Alexander from a medical career to music when he sang Canio in "Pagliacd" while in the United States Air Force. After his discharge he enrolled at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and became a protege of the former Metropolitan Opera baritone, Robert Weede.
