1971 Press Photo King Faisal escorted by Richard Roth at Texas' Langley AFB

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
The late King Faisal, assassinated earlier this week, offered Omaha Public Safety Director Richard Roth a job four years ago, but Roth respectfully turned the king's offer down. Roth, then a United States Secret Service agent, was assigned to head the detail protecting Faisal during a visit to the United States. Roth, though he has been told he could have become rich by taking the king's offer, says he has no regrets. Faisal wanted Roth to set up a royal security system. Pictured in 1971 during a trip to Langley Air Force Base in Texas, Faisal is escorted by Roth (dark suit, upper left) as he leaves an airplane.

Photo is dated 1971.

Photo measures 8 x 10 inches.
