Description
The 10-day Newport Jazz Festival in New York had 36 events. Donald Byrd and the Blackbirds, bottom, was a sellout late-night concert in Carnegie Hall last Tuesday. Sy Oliver, top right, took part in a big band ball at Roseland last Monday. Jack McDuff added an electronic touch as he played the organ at Carnegie Hall on Monday.
