Senator Edmund Muskie, who let one of the biggest head starts in the history of presidential politics get away from him, announced today he will stop running but isn't giving up hopes for the Democratic nomination. The Maine Senator, who had been a clear cut front-runner for two years, said he was withdrawing from future primaries. He cited lack of funds. Mrs. Muskie watches as Muskie quits primaries.
