Description
The Maharaja Sir Tashi Namgyal, 70, sits on a five-foot throne during wedding of his son, the Crown Prince of Sikkim, to New York socialite Hope Cooke in Gangtok, Sikkim, yesterday. The Maharaja's throne was just in front of the altar to Buddha in the royal Buddhist chapel of the Himalayan realm where the ceremony took place. He wore a yellow-brocaded silk jacket and orange silk gown.

Photo is dated 1963.
