James L. Pate, an assistant secretary of Commerce for economic affairs, briefs newsmen in Washington Monday on the rise in the Gross National Product. The GNP, which is the broadest measure of the nation's economic health, grew at an annual rate of 11.2 percent for the three months ending September 30. This rate of growth represents the biggest increase in 20 years according to the Commerce Department.
