Gesturing Adlai Stevenson tells the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations today that: "According to that eminent authority on foreign affairs, Senator Dirksen, it really was not Khrushchev--let alone Eisenhower--who broke up the summit conference, it was me!" Stevenson also commended President Eisenhower's decision to continue negotiations with Russian leaders and asserted that the United States must stand firm against communist threats in Berlin.
