Crowned Maid of Cotton for 1964 Monday night was Katy Sue Meredith, a hazel-eyed coed from Andalusia, Alabama. She won out over 19 other contestants in the finals before 5,000 invited spectators at City Auditorium in Memphis, Tennessee. Her steady boyfriend, Ashton Wells, missed the contest because he's in New Orleans. The University of Alabama baseball player is a manager of the Crimson Tide football team.
