Zanzibar President Abeid Karume, 59, today discounted the possibility of a Communist takeover of his East African island. He said numerous Russians, Chinese and East Germans are in Zanzibar only to assist his government. "The people of Zanzibar are not Communist and they do not want communism here," said Karume.
