1963 Press Photo Georgia escapee Virgil McCracken surrenders to Missouri police

Virgil McCracken who surrendered to police in Kansas City and told them he was wanted in Georgia for prison escape, is shown in Jackson County jail after waiving extradition today. McCracken told police he escaped from a Georgia prison six years ago. He said he settled in Blue Springs, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City, and worked as a mechanic. He said he fell in love and was to be married, but wanted to go right and surrender on the escape charge first.
