Description
Author Clifford Irving and his petite blonde wife, Edith, right, are surrounded by newsmen Friday after leaving State Supreme Court in New York City. Earlier a federal judge sentenced Irving to two and half years in prison and his wife to a two month jail term in connection with charges stemming from the sale of a fake autobiography of millionaire Howard Hughes. The state court turned the couple loose with only the federal sentence to be served. Motto on court building, background reads: "Only the just man enjoys peace of mind."

Photo is dated 1972.
