Jomo Kenyatta, center, prime minister of Kenya, and William Attwood, right, U.S. Ambassador to Kenya, confer at Kenyatta's Gatandu residence near Nairobi yesterday. Kenyatta, chairman of the African States Congo Conciliation Committee, made an appeal for an end to the Congo fighting after meeting with Attwood and the committee. He also conferred today with the Congo's rebel "prime minister," Thomas Kanza, on the fate of 1,000 whites being held hostage by the rebels.
