Looking tired and smoking heavily, King Hussein of Jordan appeared Wednesday at a press conference in Amman. It was his first public appearance since last week's bloody fighting between Jordanian troops and Arab guerrillas. The violence ended with 1,000 dead and wounded after the king made concessions to the commando groups.
