Representatives of the Inquirer and the Knight Newspapers meeting Tuesday in Philadelphia confirmed the sale of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News to the Knight Newspapers, Inc. They are, from left to right: Joseph First, Inquirer Vice President and General Counsel, Lee Hills, President and Executive Editor of Knight Newspapers, Alvan H. Chapman, Jr., Knight's Executive Vice President, Frederick Chait, Inquirer General Manager and James Knight, Chairman of Knight Newspapers. The Inquirer and Daily News were both owned by Walter Arnomberg, new ambassador to Great Britain.
