1964 Press Photo Havana street musicians with their guard duty weapons

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
A bunch of the boys got out their instruments to beat out a fast tune on a Havana street and brought their guns along to let everyone know they are still on guard. Many Cubans spend four hours a week on guard duty as a special contribution to the government. But if there's music nearby the guards will join in, guns and all.

Photo is dated 1964.

Photo measures 10 x 7.75 inches.
