West German Ambassador to the United Nations Peter Hermes attends to his diplomatic duties as his government honored violinist Yehudi Menuhin, right, at the embassy in Washington earlier this year. Hermes holds the proclamation of the Knight's Commander's Cross (Badge and Star) of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany which was presented to the famed concert violinist.
