John Grey Gorton, Australia's new Prime Minister, is shown with his American-born wife at a barbecue in Sydney December 30. Gorton, 56, became prime minister, succeeding John McEwen who served as interim prime minister after the death of Prime Minister Harold E. Holt last month.
