1967 Press Photo Eliaz Guzman & bride in Jerusalem during Arab-Israeli war.

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Eliaz Guzman, 38, a Mexico City bookseller, and his petite bride, Guadeloupe Morande, 35, are shown in Amman, Jordan, today after arriving from Jerusalem. They went to Jerusalem to fulfill their vow to marry in the Holy City. Instead, they almost got killed by the bullets and bombs of the Arab-Israeli war. They saw Roman Catholic Patriarch Alberto Goir only long enough for him to absolve them from their vow to solemnize their civil marriage a year ago with a religious ceremony in Jerusalem.

Photo is dated 1967.

Photo measures 10.25 x 8 inches.
