Helmut Graef, wealthy Austrian student who was nabbed here today after a week-long nationwide search, cut a main blood vessel in his arm and almost bled to death soon after police took him into custody. The young Austrian slashed himself with a razor blade in his jail cell, Detective Captain Charles W. Pierce of the Miami Beach police force said. The mysterious disappearance of an Austrian student at the University of Cincinnati whose blood stained auto was found near Columbus was being investigated by police there. The 1941 model car belonged to Helmut Graef, 23, ,,,,mechanical engineering student. Graef has been missing science March 7.
