Description
You can take an Irishman out of Ireland--but who wants to take the Irish out of the Reverend John Finn? And especially as long as he continues his research into Irish folklore--its myths and superstitions, its wit and wisdom. The results of his 1981 trip to Gurteen, a small village which is his hometown in County Sligo, is a 32-page, slick-paper booklet called "Irish Folklore: Customs, Curses, Cures, Recipes." Father Finn introduces his readers to Ireland with a few words fro another loyal Irishmen--George Bernard Shaw: "Ireland, Sir, for good or evil is like no other place in heaven, and no man can touch its sod or breathe its air, without becoming better or worse." Father Finn is associate pastor of St. Lawrence of the Martyr Catholic Church in Metairie, Louisiana
