Representative Paul Shafer makes a speech in Washington, D.C. --- Seeks Dismissal of Undersecretary Clayton -- Washington, D.C. -- In a speech which he delivered in part on the floor of the House, Representative Paul Shafer (R.- Michigan) called the House members to join him in calling on incoming Secretary of State General George C. Marshall, to get rid of Under-Secretary of State William L. Clayton. Representative Shafer charged that the Undersecretary was, "making millions" as a member of the world's largest cotton firm, due to his high government post. Representative Shafer holds a report of the cotton firm Anderson Clayton & Company, upon which be based his attack.
