Description
Lincoln and her oldest son Robert faced each other with heartrending emotion at the trial in Chicago in May of 1875, which resulted in a verdict of insanity and remanded Mary to custodial care in a retreat in Batavia, Illinois. She was 56 at the time and died in 1882.
