Description
Milt Hinton to students: "Jazz music is not just playing music, it's a way of thinking and communicating. Music wafts from an unobtrusive doorway on St. Bernard Avenue. Above the door is a sign that reads "Academy of Black Arts." Behind the door, in a narrow muggy room, two men play their instruments - one a piano, the other an upright bass. Their eyes are closed as their fingers move deftly, releasing the secrets of the ages. The initiates sit quietly crowded around the walls. Jazz in New Orleans
