Joey Bishop, who left a hospital bed still wearing his hospital band, to appear before a Philadelphia zoning board hearing to support conversion of a convent into a treatment home for teen-aged drug addicts trying to get unhooked. Bishop said "people better get interested in other people quickly, especially in kid addicts, or will be just writing off this generation." Joey, a comedian who insists funnymen must sometimes be serious.
