1966 Press Photo Carnations and Gladioli from Argentina at New Orleans Airport

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Flown fresh from Argentina Thursday are these carnations and gladioli, cut only 20 hours earlier. Present for their arrival at New Orleans International Airport are (from left) Diego Jiordano Echegoyen, who ordered the flowers from Mar de Plata: New Orleans florist Donald O. Heumann, who imported them, and Consul General Rafael M. Vazquez of Argentina. Vazquez said the shipment demonstrated that the possibility of importing other commodities, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, from Argentina to the Unites States "is vast."

Photo is dated 1966.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches.
