Description
Nineteen-year-old Elizabeth Wilson spent the summer in France where, as part of the Experiment in International Living, she resided with a French family. Bubbling with enthusiasm, Elizabeth told of her adventure, "I found out about the program through my former school, Country Day," said the sophomore at Sweet Briar. "I wanted to use my French and this sounded like the perfect way. We first went to Putney, Vermont, for an orientation program. Since we weren't going to travel through Europe luxuriously, we needed to be able to carry our luggage. Thus, there was a luggage hike to see if we were prepared. Well, most of us were not as there was a string of tired bodies in our wake.

Photo is dated 1967.
