Beginning work on the emergency levee setback at Montz, Louisiana, 25 miles north of New Orleans, Wednesday are U.S. Army Corps of Engineer crews, working from a barge-wharf, lower right. The crevasse that caused the emergency setback is seen in the lower left. The cluster of houses, upper right, have been moved to make way for the setback. This photograph was made from a helicopter by James N. Pitts of The Times-Picayune staff through the courtesy of Carriger Air Patrol and Air Taxi Service.
