1974 Press Photo A Novosibirsk youngster in Siberia, Russia - noo56478

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
No modern dress for this Novosibirsk youngster, but he's obviously content with a little attention from the photographer. - Novosibirsk, which means New Siberian City, came into being around the turn of the century with the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway, which stretches 6,200 miles eastward from Moscow to Vladivostok. It is reputed to be the longest railway in the world and requires seven days and seven nights to traverse. The mental picture I had of Siberia before I arrived there scarcely conformed to what I found. And it was not simply the American rock style band in our hotel.

Photo is dated 1974.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches.
