1966 Press Photo Ned Luker, Peace Corps recruiter at Tulane University

Description
You can build your own little grass shack on the white sand beaches of Burgos or live in a cement hut with a tin roof in the Kissidougou rain forest and get paid for it. Two former embers of the Peace Corps, now recruiting at the Tulane University Student Center, did just that for two years. One of the recruiters, Ned Luker, 24, from Nashville, Tennessee, taught school in Burgos, a Philippines community of 1,000 persons. "For the first three months I lived in the classroom," Luker said. "The kids would wake me up in the morning coming to school."

Photo is dated 1966.

Photo measures 8.25 x 10.25 inches.
