Description
Preparations for the sesquicentennial celebration of the Battle of New Orleans moved forward Friday with announcement of several improvements being made at Chalmette National Historic Park and a visit to New Orleans by two officials planning the event. Courtland T. Reid, newly appointed director of the park, said that by the beginning of the celebration in January, a large segment of Andrew Jackson's ramparts will have been reconstructed.
