Verne Kirby, 3600 Clifford dr., Whitney Heights, Metairie, stands in front of his home in a demonstration to show what water levels would have been reached had East Jefferson been inundated. Corps of Engineers tide gauges showed that these would have been the levels for the 1947, Betsy and Camille hurricanes for this area between Veterans hwy. and the lake.
