Description
Judge Cyril J. Grancianette of the new First Parish Court tries out his bench as court crier Bernard Chabaud and court reporter Linda Ehret look on. Starting Monday, motorists who violate traffic laws on the East Bank of Jefferson Parish will begin paying all their fines on the East Bank, avoiding the trek to Gretna across the Mississippi River. And beginning the same day, attorneys will be able to settle their money claims under $1,000 on the East Bank. The new services come with the first session of the First Parish Court of Jefferson in temporary quarters in the Janice building at 3027 Ridgelake, two blocks behind the House of Lee Restaurant.

Photo is dated 1964.
