Description
After more than an hour of steady, hard pedaling, the muscles, arteries and veins in these men's legs were bulging as they advanced to the reviewing stand to accept prizes from members of the parish sesquicentennial committee, which had helped organized the race. No one paid much attention to the other cyclists who had finished the course, and they collapsed in the shade. Alfonso Valdes, who was sweating heavily, took long drinks from his water bottle, sat near the curb and sneezed. "I just wanted to finish the race," he said "That was all."

Photo is dated 1975.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.
