Description
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Hurley accept the Service to Mankind Award of the Sertoma Club of New Orleans presented by Surguies M. Lamothe (left), president of the club, Friday at Chateau LeMoyne. They were honored for promoting the Christmas Caravan to Appalachia in December, 1971 and 1972. The Hurleys, answering an appeal for a donation from Lancaster, Kentucky, decided to collect toys and other items instead. Their project snowballed into the caravan of two truckloads of toys, clothing, canned goods, blankets, medical supplies, etc., donated by generous people. They followed up with a 1972 caravan and now are working on one for 1973.

Photo is dated 1973.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.
