A New Orleans Coast Guard Reserve training unit won second place in a close race for the first Gordon Canfield Trophy for outstanding performance among Coast Guard Reserve units in the United States. Shown at presentation ceremonies in Washington are, from left, Representative Gordon Canfield of New Jersey; Vice Admiral Alfred C. Richmond, commander of the United States Coast Guard; Lieutenant Commodore Victor L. Colomb, 7910 Jeannette, unit commander, and Lieutenant Commander Harry M. Rambo, head of the Pennsylvania unit which won first place. The award is sponsored by the Reserve Officers Association.
