Participants in the 46th annual convention of the North American Securities Administrators at the Monteleone Hotel Thursday included (from left) Ralph S. Saul, director, Division of Trading and Exchanges, Securities and Exchange Commission; William L. Cary, chairman of the Secuirties and Exchange Commission; Philip A. Loomis Junior, commission general counsel, and Jack Whitney II, commission member. State broker control backed Required membership of all registered broker dealers in the National Association of Securities Dealers will not remove state authority, according to the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. William L. Cary, in an address Thursday at the Monteleone Hotel, told the North American Securities Administrators that the importance of state regulation was confirmed by the recent special study of securities markets made by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
