Description
New officers of the Louisiana Motor Truck Association who were named at the association's 26th annual convention at the Jung Hotel include (from left) J. Richard Herrin Jr., Baton Rouge, vice-president, Louisiana; Duncan McRae Sr., Shreveport, first vice-president; Sam Broussard, New Orleans, president; Clyde B. Stevens. Lake Charles, chairman of board, and T.L. Mydland, New Orleans, treasurer. U.S. Representative Hale Boggs (Democrat-Louisiana) told the Louisiana Motor Transport Association Saturday that he is opposed to increasing user taxes on the highways, while the association voiced its own opposition in the form of a resolution. Boggs said any objective study shows that the trucking industry is paying its share of the cost of building highways.
