Description
U.S. Navy Submergence Rescue Vehicles at San Francisco. It looks like an oversized aerial bomb, but it is actually the first of the U.S. Navy's series of deep submergence rescue vehicles designed to rescue seamen from distressed submarines. The vehicle, built by Lockheed Missiles & Space Co., at nearby Sunnyvale on the San Francisco Peninsula, is being loaded aboard a C-141 jet cargo plane Monday for a flight to San Diego. It will be launched Saturday

Photo is dated 1970.

Photo measures 10.25 x 8.25 inches.
