Combat has changed, says general - Lieutenant General John (Mike) Michaelis, left, views bronzed paratroop boot given to him when he commanded a U.S. Army unit in Turkey. Michaelis, who trains recruits for Vietnam combat, commands the U.S. 5th Army at Ft. Sheridan, north of Chicago. He says combat fighting in Vietnam is different from World War II or Korea, both wars in which he fought. At right is Command Sergeant Major Othon Valent, who was with Michaelis in Europe.
