Description
Mechanix Illustrated Magazine Illustration of Amphibious Tank. The above illustration from Mechanix Illustrated Magazine shows how the newly-designed undersea tank would make an effective landing on enemy soil. Still in the blueprint stage, the underwater tank designed for amphibious landings offers a solution to the many problems in spearhead operations. This modern technical apparatus would give added protection against heavy shore installations by travelling below the sea and also by being heavily armored. The clear plexiglas which covers rotating turret while under water is blown off for action when the tank is landed.

Photo is dated 1950.

Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches.
