Description
Al Harrison, a deck hand on the Canal Street ferry and an employee with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, secures the ferry to the barge landing at Canal Street during early morning fog. Moored to the dock in the fog shrouded background are local cruise boats Voyageur and president. Cool lake waters mix with warm gulf air creating early morning and late night fog covering the metro area. National Weather Service spokeman say the fog is unusual for this time of year and should continue for the next few days. Late January through March are the most common months for fog in the New Orleans Area.

Photo is dated 1984.
