1979 Press Photo Construction is moving along on the Pan-American Life Building

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Work is moving along at the $28.5 million Pan-American Life Building at 601 Poydras Street, part of the $150 million building boom that is going on in the Central Business District of New Orleans. All total, 95 percent of the office space in major office buildings have been rented, according to Downtown Development District executive director R. Thomas Cucullu Jr. Voters have approved a room tax that could bring a people-luring convention-goer-luring convention center downtown.

Photo is dated 1979.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
